Special Edition | Where's Waldo (1987) |
Where's Waldo?, a re-release of the original Where's Waldo? book, was issued in 1997. The special edition relocated Waldo's position in each picture and added additional characters to find (Woof, Wizard Whitebeard, Wenda, Odlaw, and and others).
"The Railway Station" page was retitled "The Train Station" for the special edition. Another minor edit was censoring the topless sunbather from the original edition that got it banned from public schools. In each of the special edition books there is a "person who appears in every scene." In this book that person is a dark-skinned man with a white shirt and red tie. A similar happening occurs in "The Campsite" where children open a tent on a man while he is undressing. In the original, although his genitals are blocked from view by his hand, he is clearly naked. In the 1997 special release, however, he is wearing white briefs.
